So this week’s tasteful thursday is a total cheat blog. If you followed me over at Walking on Rainbows then you’ve definitely seen this post before and maybe even tried it! 🙂 It’s among one of my favorite crock pot recipes and it’s also one of the easiest for how yummy it is. James loves a good pot roast and it is on our Father’s Day weekend menu. Hope you guys enjoy this one!
Crock Pot Roast
1/2 cups of carrots or to your liking
1 1/3 cup water
Salt and Pepper to taste
Pictured are All the things needed for my roast! Except for the mountain of potatoes back there. My potatoes are fresh from the garden (Yummy!) so they are in a bucket not a bag. I was also making mashed potatoes despite cooking them with the roast – I didn’t want to put them away and have to pull them out again.
Whatcha need to do:
Add potatoes and carrots to the bottom of the pot. Slice the onions and put them on the top and bottom of the roast. Salt and pepper both sides of the roast. Pour water into pot. Water needs to be just enough to cover the bottom of the pot and about half of the roast. Cook on low for 7-8 hours or high for 4-5hours.
My Final Product: A super yummy very moist tender falling apart roast. Definitely a keeper to my recipe section of my cook book! And especially easy. We eat mashed potatoes with roast so we had that along with it. However, there really is no need to cook extra veggies. The potatoes are yummy and we love carrots – they are good right out of the pot also.
Would love to hear your secrets to a yummy roast or your favorite crock pot recipes!
Until we meet again,
